What's A Peaceful Mama Bundle?
What’s inside (delivered through hospitals, WIC, doulas, and clinics):
-
The Peaceful Sleeper (book) — compassionate, science-based guidance for infant sleep, calming strategies, secure attachment, and maternal mental health.
-
Virtual Newborn Care & Sleep Class — safe sleep practices; soothing and regulation; spotting and easing discomfort (gas/reflux/tension); realistic sleep needs & timing; attachment-building routines.
-
Virtual Maternal Mental Health Class — normalizes postpartum challenges; when & how to get help; low-bandwidth self-care; simple CBT tools; how to build your “village.”
-
Resource Card — 988 & PSI helplines, Medicaid/low-cost therapy links, and clear next steps.
Why virtual? In-person classes are hard to reach with a newborn; therapy is expensive and underutilized. Virtual delivery removes access barriers, is scalable, and keeps support available anytime, anywhere.

Why It Works
-
Sleep is medicine. It’s a biological necessity that supports growth, immune function, cognitive development, and emotional regulation.
-
Mom’s rest protects mental health. Better sleep is linked with fewer depressive symptoms and stronger bonding.
-
Baby’s sleep fuels development. Higher-quality infant sleep is associated with better cognitive performance, emotional regulation, and healthier weight trajectories.
-
Early support is prevention. Simple, timely education + a roadmap to care = more help-seeking and less suffering.
-
Accessible by design. Virtual, on-demand classes overcome cost, transportation, scheduling, and childcare barriers—driving higher reach and utilization than traditional models.
-
“Sleep is the foundation of all good health… absolutely vital for emotional regulation and all aspects of development.” — Dr. Sujay Kansagra
Outcomes We Track
-
Access & engagement: moms sponsored, sites served, class completions
-
First 4–6 weeks: improved infant-sleep practices; fewer night wakings; better maternal sleep
-
0–3 months: reduced maternal depressive symptoms (EPDS/PHQ-2) among at-risk moms; stronger bonding
-
3–12+ months (samples): healthy growth and developmental screens; sustained maternal wellbeing

Evidence At A Glance

-
1 in 5 moms experience postpartum depression/anxiety; risk is 11× higher with multiple SES stressors.
-
Infant sleep = health: short/poor sleep is linked to childhood obesity, behavioral and learning problems, and emotional difficulty.
-
-
Public-health imperative: sleep is as essential as nutrition and exercise; addressing sleep deficiency is one of the most achievable ways to improve health.
-
Economics: an untreated maternal mental-health condition costs ~$32,000 over six years.
A small gift to facilitate the right start creates lifelong ripple effects.
